چکیده

Canine leptospirosis is a bacterial disease caused by spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. Infections can vary from asymptomatic and chronic infections to clinical acute diseases. The endemic in tropical areas, such as Latin American countries, but broad understanding dynamics circulation strains, based on molecular data, has not yet been performed. Based silico analyses, present study aims analyze genetic diversity patterns haplotypes pathogenic leptospires infecting dogs America. DNA sequences were obtained GenBank platform, curated, aligned. Genetic distances calculated, maximum likelihood tree haplotype network constructed. According inclusion criteria adopted, total 148 identified. Most records Brazil, including L. interrogans serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae. Phylogenetic analysis showed genetically closely related cluster, consisting larger haplogroup that includes reference strain Fiocruz L1-130, known be major circulating humans. Moreover, no variations observed according history and/or geographical localization. We described epidemiology among America demonstrated very homogeneous group, elucidating its ubiquitous pattern drawing attention important role One Health transmission leptospirosis.

Molecular detection of pathogenic Leptospira in Iran

Leptospirosis is an acute infectious, systemic and septisemic disease which had recent outbreaks in some parts of Iran especially in north provinces. Rapid detection is a critical step for treatment and control of this disease. In this research a PCR based method was evaluated for detection of Iranian local endemic serovars. All reported endemic serovars of Leptospira including Leptospira gri...

Molecular epidemiology of pathogenic Leptospira spp. among large ruminants in the Philippines

The extent of Leptospira infection in large ruminants resulting to economic problems in livestock industry in a leptospirosis-endemic country like the Philippines has not been extensively explored. Therefore, we determined the prevalence and carrier status of leptospirosis in large ruminants using molecular techniques and assessed the risk factors of acquiring leptospirosis in these animals. Wa...

Molecular Detection of Leptospira Species Serotypes in Iranian Stray Dogs

Background and Aims: Leptospirosis is a spirochetal disease with public health importance globally. This disease affects a wide range of domestic and wild animals. Dogs are one of the species most sensitive to Leptospira canicola and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae. The present study was concluded to evaluate the prevalence rate of Leptospira species and L. canicola and L. icterohaemorrhagiae se...

Epidemiology of Lupus in Latin America

Epidemiology studies on Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are scarce in Latin America. A comprehensive search on MEDLINE and LILACS databases for relevant articles using the combination search terms of lupus and epidemiology was performed and herewith we provide a short review of the published data found. Twelve studies were identified regarding incidence or prevalence of SLE in Latin America....
